Just wanted to let you know that it seems that the Flicker and nuthatch have been able to cohabitate in the same snag. Is this common? Now, if the crow in the neighboring yard leaves them alone, all should be well.

I saw the nuthatch take some of the dog hair I put out, but haven't seen the pitch going on.The Bewick's wren also took some dog hair (golden retriever) for their nest. They are nesting in my dovecote. Chickadees have been taking dog hair as well as the cotton ball...to parts unknown.

I'm headed to Eastern WA the end of the month, so please keep me informed of avocets, etc. Hoping to see my first near Othello/Columbia Refuge.

Caryn

I have had two band-tailed pigeons visiting the last couple of days.
