At 9:15 pm tonight (Monday) I had a flock of several hundred large noisy birds in 4 or 5 large loose Vs fly north over my house in Brinnon, WA (on Hood Canal/east side of Olympic Peninsula). My first thought was sandhill cranes but when I went to verify it by listening to some recordings of their calls, I couldn't be sure. They sounded more like the snow geese recordings. Of course, I didn't have my binoculars and it was very close to dark, so I didn't get the visual details I needed. And my sound memory is very short! Perhaps someone else saw them and could let me know. Or maybe someone could tell me what is the most probable sighting, given time of day, time of year, location, etc. Thanks
