Today I went to the fill for about an hour and a half. When I got
there the trees were filled with yellow rumped warblers (mostly
audubon's with a few myrtles). I was soon able to pick out a wilsons
warbler. I also was surprised to find a hermit thrush in the brush
next to the trail. At the shoveler pond there was a flock of
shorebirds with three western sandpipers and six least. The solitary
sandpiper was in the wooded pond along with three more least
sandpipers and some killdeer. There were also a few common
yellowthroats and another wilsons warbler there. At the maine pond
there were two lesser scaup and a few remaining widgeons. there was
also a flock of cedar waxwings and a couple of vaux's swifts. While I
was scanning the mergansers on the lake I was able to locate an otter
which was really exiting. Later I got great looks at a virginia rail
and three cinnamon teal (two males and one female). In the baseball
fields I found a greater white fronted goose with the canada geese.
there were also a few golden and white-crowned sparrows in the fields.
Some other cool things I saw were two great blue herons courting, a
pheasant, an eagle, and a brown headed cowbird.
