Hello, A raher short trip to Luhr Beach and the area around HQ at Nisqually NWR produced 85 species yesterday. Most notable were 2 SOLITARY SANDPIPERS; one off the Twin Barns Overlook and the other on the margins of the 1st pond on the left as you head to McAllister Creek from HQ.
Also nice to see again were OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER & WESTERN WOOD PEWEE on the wooded hillside at Luhr. A decent cluster of passerines was moving thru this area.
There are also 3 RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD nests along a 100 foot section of the River Trail boardwalk at the refuge; one just finished construction, one with eggs and one with 2 young.
