Hello All,

I also had the RUFF today at the same location along Channel Drive between
about 2:00 and 3:45 this afternoon. The bird was fairly accommodating only
disappearing from view briefly. Occasionally, it associated with and even
exhibited aggression towards a LESSER YELLOWLEGS. On the whole, however, it
was mostly in the company of dowitchers.

At first glance, it appears to be a splotchy black and white, however, in
good light the purple iridescence is quite striking - a very funky looking
bird indeed. Thanks to Joel Brady-Power for the great find and for passing
on the alert. It was definitely a treat to see this species in this
plumage.

Cheers and Good Birding,
Ted Kenefick

Hi,

Dennis Duffy, Duane Karna and I relocated the Ruff this morning.

We first visited at approximately 8 - 9 am and did not find the bird. Water
levels were fairly high.

We returned about 11:30 and initially could not locate the bird. After a
while the Ruff popped out into view for a few moments. It disappeared and
then came out for a longer look but soon disappeared again. It was seen in
the slough, at the edge of the channel going north.
Cheers and good birding,
