Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday May 8. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at

On May 5 a CARDINAL was photographed at a Canby feeder. A TUFTED DUCK was
seen May 6 on Racetrack Lake on Sauvie Island. On May 4 a NORTHERN PARULA
was seen near Baker Beach north of Florence.

Migrations during the week brought BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAKS and WESTERN
TANAGERS to much of the state. The heavy YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER movement
continues through Western Oregon.

On May 4 a CATBIRD and a BREWER?S SPARROW were at Steigrwald NWR near
Washougal. During the week a RAVENS nest was located at the northern end of
Forest Park in Portland. On May 4 a MOCKINGBIRD was seen near 109th and NE
Skidmore in Portland. That day three BLACK-NECKED STILTS were at the
Tualatin NWR.

On May 3 two FRANKLIN?S GULLS were near Madras and BANK SWALLOWS were back
at the Prineville Sewage Ponds. A bright male HERMIT WARBLER was in Bend May
1. Six LESSER GOLDFINCHES and two SOLITARY SANDPIPERS were among the many
shorebirds May 3 at Hatfield Lake near Bend.

That?s it for this week.
