There seems to be a RED-NECKED PHALAROPE invasion this year. I just checked the pond on Airport Rd. this morning, and there were 5 swimming and feeding. Also seen were 1 LEAST SANDPIPER and 3 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS. Across the park and ride there was a covey of CALIFORNIA QUAIL.
To reach the pond, coming from the north take exit 81, Melon St. and turn right. Go about a block to Airport Rd. (unmarked and parallels I-5) and turn left. Go about 1/4 mile and its on the right side.
