Subject: [Tweeters] red-winged blackbird assault tactics

While walking along the Snoqualmie Valley trail yesterday, my friend and my
granddaughter had a good chuckle as we watched an adult male blackbird
accosting a pair of Canada geese. Seems the geese were a little too close
to the nest so the blackbird was jumping on their backs pecking away at
them. This continued till the geese sped away with their one gosling.

It was a 4 woodpecker day as well: red headed sapsucker drumming, northern
flicker, a downy and last but not least a pileated.

First black headed grosbeak for the year at my feeder, and Swainson's
thrushes were heard in the woods.
