During the Cold War, the CIA or MI tried using some ornithologists as "spooks" to figure out what was going on in Siberia, regarding habitat alteration or etc. So along the same lines, I've come up with a scenario as to the cause of the current Nashville Warbler migration surge.

There may have been a westward expansion of Nashville Warbler breeding territory up in British Columbia. This would be the result of massive deforestation and the subsequent regrowth of the brushy habitat the Nashvilles like. And since that breeding population has shifted westward, it would be convenient to migrate up and down a more western route?.

Oh well...
