Hi Tweets,

I had an opportunity to bird in the Inland Empire on Friday and
Saturday. I was looking forward to watching woodpeckers at the
Gifford Camp Ground burn on Lake Roosevelt, just north of the Gifford
Ferry. When I arrived I was stunned to see that the burn has become
a meadow (with lots of fallen trees in it). It appears that a wind
storm broke off all of the trees. I did find one Northern Flicker
nest in a snag that broke off at about the seven-foot level. Western
Bluebirds were making use of the more meadow-like habitat. Might be
a good opportunity for a small bluebird trail in there.
