Northern Bobwhites and to a lesser extent Chuckars are locally persistent at various places on Fort Lewis' Thurston and Pierce Co. prairies, usually around the prairie / oak edge. There are quite a few NOBO's along Muck Creek near Roy. Both are escapees from hunters using the prairie to train their bird dogs. Soon to be joined by flocks of Eurasian Collard-Doves apparently.
