Tweets,

I'm somewhat chagrined with this report as it is a bit late. Michael Hobbs
joined us for our walk yesterday and he walked Marymoor today and already has
his report done. Where does tine go?

10 of us walked Nisqually yesterday morning under cloudy skies. It got
breezier as we walked. The birds were pretty cooperative in the woods but once
we got out of the woods it got pretty quiet.

Highlights included several firsts of the year including OSPREY, WESTERN
WOOD-PEEWEE, SWAINSON'S THRUSH, BLACK-THROATED GRAY WARBLER, BLACK-HEADED
GROSBEAK, and BULLOCK'S ORIOLE. Sure nice to have someone with Michael's ears and
knowledge along to hear and see things.

The OSPREY was flying out over the refuge and the BULLOCK'S ORIOLE was in
the riparian area inside the boardwalk near the twin barns turnoff. The
BLACK-THROATED GRAY was in the riparian area just before the ring dike. The others
should become fairly common in the next week or so.

We also relocated 2 RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD nests along the Nisqually River side
inside the boardwalk. One had young in it and the other was empty and
shredded. A third nest was still active. Male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRDS seemed to be
everywhere.

For the day we saw 53 species and we now have 120 for the year.

There were some PAINTED TURTLES sunning themselves for the first time this
year.

Until next week....
