Western Tanagers (males and females) stopped by here today also--drinking
at the bird bath and loitering in the "bird" tree above it.
Temperature was 90 degrees in the shade, so I guess their need for a
drink is understandable. I had seen these beautiful birds previously in
the park near the Point Loma Memorial while visiting my son and
daughter-in-law. However, this is the first time I have seen them here
in Cinebar. The bird bath is less than six feet from the living room
window, so I enjoyed the "close-up."

Also, today, some Purple Finch (males and females) spent hours (off and
on) at the platform feeder. This is the first time I have seen them
anywhere. I was hoping they would find the finch feeder, but if they
did, it was not when I was watching. (But, then, I did not see the
goldfinch or house finch there either today.)

Only other birds that have spent much time at the feeders today were the
Jays, Towhee, and Grosbeaks (Evening and Black-headed).
