Led a field trip trip to Lost Island HMU on the Snake River this morning. Lots of birds/bird species. Had a bird sighting that surprised me date-wise. A single
SANDHILL CRANE.

Had other sightings at this location that I found somewhat troubling. Three guys with Spanish accents packing flash-suppressed assault rifles. Don't know if they were just having fun with guns or guarding a marijauna patch. Didn't ask either.
