I was at Wenas on Friday night/Saturday morning and can comment on road
conditions and birds.

If I hadn't seen wet tire marks coming out of the river at 10 PM on Friday
night when I arrived, I would have aborted. I have never seen it this
deep. The water level for the 200 foot stretch was almost tailpipe deep in
my Forester. It most definitely was greater than the 4-6 inches reported
later on Saturday. I believe it was as deep if not deeper when I left
Saturday mid morning. Be prepared.

There is a Red-naped sapsucker excavating a nest in a poplar snag along
the creek at the very end of the road that runs along the creek that now
terminates in a bulldozed trench. There were at least 3 very vocal white
headed woodpeckers as well, higher up on the hill. The place was thick
with Wilson's Warblers. No Veerys yet. Lots of Gray and Dusky Flycatchers,
with the Grays calling at night. Heard at least two Poorwills, and a very
vocal pair of Great Horned Owls that moved around. Calliope Hummingbirds
were on territory. No other owls were calling.

In the field just after the houses and after the County Road terminates
were singing Vesper Sparrows. On the hill was a Lazuli Bunting.
