Subject: [Tweeters] WOS Conference update and deadline today
Date: May 19 19:01:26 2008
From: Hill - hill at smwireless.net
Today is the stated deadline for registration and refunds for the 2008 WOS Conference in Walla Walla scheduled for June 5-9. Please visit the website for details at www.wos.org and get on board. While the deadline for registration (including inexpensive lodging on campus) and some refunds is stated as postmarked today, if you contact registrar Cindy McCormack by clicking on her name on the "contact us" page today you should beat the deadline as we need a head count for the college and caterer. There is a waiting list for some Walla Walla based field trips on Friday while some of the small group "travel to" Friday trips have plenty of space (including those starting in Moses Lake and Othello). We are still trying to include additional trips to handle demand but are seeking additional leaders and for snow conditions to cooperate for access to some hgher elevations. Expect exceptional birding with both breeders and late migrants in abundance.
Among the activities are a "wine and munchies potluck" social Friday evening from 6-7 pm at Maxey Hall on the Whitman College campus. This is an after-dinner bring-your-own tasting and sharing opportunity. Mike Denny will do his best to grab your attention immediately following with an introduction to birds of the Walla Walla area. I'm sure MerryLynn will prepare him well with all the birds that she finds and photographs locally. Jack Nisbet, a Spokane-based naturalist and author will speak to the banquet crowd Saturday evening on his specialty of early Washington natural history. There will also be a fundraiser for the Patrick Sullivan Young Birder Fund where two generous members will match donations dollar for dollar up to $2500.
Don't miss out. Contact Cindy today.
