Hi Tweets -
This morning, on my usual walk through the Montlake Fill [aka UBNA], I stumbled on my first MACGILLIVRAY'S WARBLER of the season -- it was singing away from a tree right near the beginning of the loop trail [more specifically, the northeast corner of the Fill proper, where Wahkiakum Lane and the loop trail diverge, closer to the CUH than the E-5 gravel lot]

On Shoveller's Pond [the NE pond], a BLUE-WINGED TEAL was finally deigning to show up for one of my morning visits.

And on the soccer fields across from the University Village, an AMERICAN PIPIT remained for the second day [at least].

Also present around and about: Many singing YELLOW WARBLERS, and still a good number of WILSON'S WARBLERS. A few singing ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS mixed in yet too. A WESTERN WOOD-PEWEE was calling from the northernmost grove of trees.

In the baby department, yesterday I saw 1-2 grebe chicks around the Pied-billed Grebe pair on the southeastern pond. Young Red-winged Blackbirds are starting to keep their parents [and marauding crows] busy. A second-hand report that the Virginia Rail pair on the southeastern pond had 5 chicks last week. And ducklings & goslings are everywhere.
