Hi Jenn,

Your birds would almost certainly be the dramatic American White Pelican.
Always a fabulous sight as they soar!

Subject: [Tweeters] Yakima Valley ID

Dear Tweeters:

Was driving over in the Yakima Valley last Friday, looked up and saw two
giant white birds with definite black wing tips, and very long winged.
Couldn't pull over and observe them, so only got those field marks. The only
large white birds I know with black wing tips are whooping cranes and wood
storks, both impossibilities as far as I know, and snow geese, of which
these birds were definitely larger and definitely heron/crane sized. That's
why I noticed them, as they were so large. Any ideas what they could be?

Thanks,
