This morning at 7:45am while walking down the "fire station road" located
here: 47.6956, -122.208 (copy and paste into Google Maps) a MACGILLIVRAY'S
WARBLER began to sing. It took a few minutes but after a bit of pishing and
screech-owling I finally managed a nice view or two of the handsome bird
skulking in the underbrush. Although the rain came shortly after, a few
other interesting birds were noted in the area. I ran into Ryan Merrill who
reported a male LAZULI BUNTING in between the two boardwalks on the western
side of the park. MaryFrances Mathis, whom I also birded with this morning,
said she'd seen the female Lazuli a day earlier. A singing WESTERN
WOOD-PEWEE and five BAND-TAILED PIGEONS were along Forbes Creek Dr, two
BLUE-WINGED TEALS could be seen easily from the west boardwalk, multiple
RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS (including a nesting pair) were readily viewable,
and the regular assortment of wood-warblers (minus Yellow-rumped
surprisingly) flitted about the park.

Despite the rain and nip in the air, it was still a quality morning's
