This afternoon at about 2 PM my wife and I were walking along the upper
trail at about the middle of the Washington Park Arboretum in Seattle when a
young man pointed us toward a barred owl sitting comfortably on a bough
about 30 feet off the path and perhaps 10 feet off the ground. He looked
back at us and turned his head once in a while, but was pretty much unmoved
by our presence or that of a few others who stopped to enjoy this close and
completely unobstructed view of a rather impressive bird.
