This has been the greatest month in my backyard since
I started noting species about 18 months ago.

My usual year-arounders include:
Black capped chickadees
Chestnut backed chicadees
Dark eyed juncos
House finches
Pine Siskins
Red breasted nuthatch
Spotted towhees
common ravens

Returnees this month include:
American robin
American goldfinch
Red winged blackbird (2)
Downy woodpecker (2)
Pileated woodpecker
Northern flicker (2)
Evening grosbeaks (early in the month for several
days)
Black headed grosbeaks (6-10)
Rufous hummingbirds (2)
Anna's hummingbirds (2)
California quail (4)
European starlings (6+)
Steller's Jay
Gold crowned sparrow (early in the month for several
days)
White crowned sparrow

I have seen everyone today except Mr. Pileated, the
evening Grosbeaks and the gold crowned sparrow.

Good birding,
