I arrived at the fill around 1:30 PM, hoping to see the Blue Winged Teals
(yes) and the Wilson's Phalaropes (no). I spotted a group of what looked
like Green Winged Teals across the pond just west of the Shoveler Pond.
There were at least two that lacked the vertical white stripe of the Green
Winged Teal, and had instead the horizontal white strip usually associated
with the Green Winged Teals of the Eurasian persuasion. If you want to have
a look, check out these photos taken at considerable distance but showing
the markings pretty well:

Other interesting occurrences include barn and cliff swallows grabbing
nesting mud from the bank of Shoveler Pond. Also seen were Canada Geese
with goslings, Pied Billed Grebes, one Cinnamon Teal, Gadwalls, Mallards,
Common Yellowthroats, Robins, Great Blue Herons, Crows, Red Winged
Blackbirds, Savannah and Song Sparrows. A dead crow was lying in the
landscaped area to the west of the CUH. In general pretty quiet, as
expected.
