Technically, I believe it's "Bubo plasticus", not "B. plastica". Note, too, that you have to be careful because some of our birds are the similar "B. latexi". While both species are noted for their ability to remain motionless for long periods of time, if you check your field guide (I use Cabela's), you'll see that there are subspecies which are noted for twisting their heads back and forth, and even blinking, in characteristic fashions.
