Hi Tweeters,

After being gone from the area since April 21st and salivating about all the
reports of migrants dropping into everywhere West of the Cascades, I finally
had a chance to see what was happening in Battle Ground (Clark County). I
heard about 20 Swainson's Thrushes between 2:15am and 5:30am on Tuesday.
These are the first nocturnal migrants I've ever heard in Spring over the
house. Daylight produced a handful of firsts for the yard for the year
including:

Western Wood Pewee
Willow Flycatcher
Black-headed Grosbeak
Swainson's Thrush (multiples calling from across the street)
Western Tanager
Wilson's Warbler

I'm glad that a few migrants waited for me to return!

By the way, for those wondering how fast grass grows - I was gone for 35
days and the highest grass on the front "lawn" weighed in at 29 inches!!!
Arrgghh.
