The Bald Eagles are busy feeding at the Chehalis River where our farm sits. ?The other day my brother and I saw an eagle in the water. ?It slowly struggled ashore with a fish where it ate. ?The fish didn't look overly large.
One another occasion, in a span of less than 10 minutes, a Osprey caught a fish and were immediately robbed by an eagle. ?The first fish bounced off the gravel bar before retrieval, the second fish was caught mid-air by the eagle after the Osprey ditched.

I recenttly saw a brood of Canada Geese that included a half white adult-the same that has been near here for several years. ?No whiter than normal young could be seen.

My own spoof when it comes birding happened two years ago, ?It was just after a couple of trips to see the Snowy Owls at Ocean Shores. ?I met a friend that flew in for business and we went to Luther Burbank Park in Mercer Island. ?She is a birder. ?We went looking for eagles and waterfowl and I told her of the snowy's around. ?Just then I saw a large white object in a low lying tree around the bend. ?I yelled out with excitement that she too would see a snowy finally!

I kept waiting for the head to turn and the large yellow eyes to greet us as we walked carefully closer. ?Closer and closer and no yellow eyes...

Finally, we were close enough to see it was a perfect owl-size white garbage bag stuck in the shrubs : \

I'll never live that one down.

Good birding : )
