From: Michael Fleming - michael-fleming at myway.com
This last weekend Stefan Schlick and I birded some areas of Eastern Oregon including the Malheur NWR. In addition to the birds mentioned in his attached post from OBOL, we managed to observe a few of the rarities that have been noted by other observers posting on OBOL including the HOODED WARBLER at the Malheur NWR Headquarters, the BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER at Fields, and the COMMON GRACKLE at Frenchglen.
Cheers and Good Birding;

Subject: Memorial Day trip to Malheur - A few more minor birds

On top of the already reported rarities and regulars at Malheur, Mike "Motel
Boy" Fleming from WA state and I had the following on our Memorial Day trip:
Tundra Swan (1 along 205; 5/24 and 5/25)
Ross's Goose (1 sitting down at The Narrows; 5/25; injured?)
Bonaparte's Gull (3 at Buck Ck & OR31, Lake Co; unfortunately I didn't take
better notes on the location; 5/27)
Black-throated Sparrow (Cottonwood Canyon 7.5mi south of Fields; only 0.1mi in;
5/26) - we had tried unsuccessfully at Diamond Craters and the south side of
Saddle Butte the day before
Juniper Titmouse (2 near Adel on 5/27; 3.2mi west of town take the road north
to the gate; take the left fork up to the first rise at about 0.2mi from the
gate; it took us 5 stops to get these birds!) - the area just east of MP21
about 7 some miles east of Adel was very birdy with singing Gray Flycatcher,
Black-throated Gray Warbler, Townsend's Solitaire and many Rock Wrens
Eurasian Collared-Dove (3 at Summer Lake headquarters; why even report those
guys any more ...)
The afternoon/evening of 5/25 we spent near Seneca in Grant Co and dipped on
pretty much every single target bird: Upland Sandpiper, Black-backed
Woodpecker, Great Gray Owl, Common Poorwill, Williamson's Sapsucker and even
Flammulated Owl at Idylwild (I know they are there in good numbers - it just
was one of those days). The unstable weather didn't help. The only consolation
price was a Northern Goshawk on a nest at the Swick Experimental Forest just
east of Izee-Paulina Rd & US395.
