hi tweeters- on tues,may 27, i had a male black-chinned hummingbird +
MANY rufous at my feeders- i couldn't get a pic -+ unfortunately , he
hasn't returned- other nice birds include 3 male bullock's orioles at 3
different sites, hopefully nesters-there have been 2 nests on my block
last year + 1 in 2006-also a male western tanager + many cedar waxwings
in my yard -lots of singing black-headed grosbeaks+swainson's thrush,+
yellow warblers--in front of mission beach , there are more than 2 dozen
pigeon guillemots-they have nests there along the banks., frequently
flying back + forth between nest tunnels + the water- -yesterday a huge
number?more than 100? of western grebes were out in mid-channel between
mission beach + hat island-there are small numbers of marbled murrelets
out in the mid channels as well-on the spit are 50-60 caspian
terns--there are 2 pairs of nesting ospreys, plagued regularly by the bald
eagles-thee pairs of canada geese have 2, 5 + 7 goslings--with the low
tides the great blue herons come in packs up to 8 together for
feeding-- on our dock are 10-13 purple martins in the gourd houses that
stan kostka placed -i am still seeing a few banded pigeons + mourning
doves are here daily all year -round-especially at 2 different
feeders.---cheers,maxine reid--tulalip bay--mail to
