I found the Baikal Teal at 1:20 this afternoon (Friday). I walked down about 1/2 mile from the locked gate at the upper access road onto the dike and scoped the larger open pond on the south side. (To walk further than 1/3 to 1/2 way across the dike risks flushing some of the closer ducks).

To find the gate, I drove south on the Refuge Rd. from the east end of O'Sullivan Dam. Once past the road jct. to Soda Lake Dam (2.4 miles south of O'Sullivan Dam) the road turns west; take the first road to the right. The gate is about 1/4 mi. from the turnoff. (Beyond the gate is a mgt. sign 'Marsh Unit 1 & 2').

The teal was feeding with Cinnamon and Blue-winged teal near the far side about mid-pond. (Scopes are important).

An American Bittern was also heard from the north side pond.
