Hi All,

I was surprised at the variety of birds passing over my yard this morning in
Battle Ground, Clark County:

Cedar Waxwing: 75 (at least six groups all moving north
Lazuli Bunting: 3
Red-breasted Sapsucker: 1 (first for the yard for the year)
Hammond's Flycatcher: 1 (first for the yard)
Wilson's Warbler: 3
Yellow Warbler: 2
Swainson's Thrush: 6
Warbling Vireo: 1
Western Tanager: 3

Other species included:

Great-blue Heron: 4 (I usually only see one every two months so 4 was
amazing)
Green Heron: 3 (!!!)
American Bittern: 2 (a pair flew over the house repeatedly croaking to each
other - I guess they may be breeding locally). Does anyone know what
behavior bitterns display after they've found a mate?
Black-headed Grosbeak: everywhere
Willow Flycatcher
Western Wood Pewee
Rufous Hummingbird 3

Good birding to you and I hope to see many of you at next week's WOS
meeting. I think I'll go Baikal Tealing enroute........

Jim
