As it is almost 2am, I don't have time to surf the web for photos. My impression from the rather confusing array of information in various guides is that the King County WBNU best fits the e. WA race rather than the "Slender-billed Nuthatch" that ranges from Cowlitz County (formerly Pierce) south into w CA.




If someone has time to compare this bird to photos taken in nw OR or Clark Co WA and to photos from e WA, that would be of great interest. Bill length and shape seem key. Relative color of sides might be of some importance, but I am not sure how easily these can be judged from these photos.
