Today, I joined a Spokane Audubon Society field trip that travelled from Reardon to Coulee City. The trip was led by Gary Blevins. It was fun and we found lots of good birds. The biggest highlights were the following:

Ross's Goose - at Brook Lake near Stratford in Grant Co. - huge flock of Canada and Cackling Geese here with increasing numbers of Snow Geese while we were watching. I chanced upon the smaller, juvenile Ross's Goose while scanning the Snow Geese. Also, there were at least 4 Greater White-fronted Geese here too.

Female Harlequin Duck - on Blue Lake in Grant Co. - this bird appeared out of nowhere while we were focused on a gull. It came quite close to the group and allowed awesome looks.

Also, we had a family group of six Trumpeter Swans on the south end of Lake Lenore.

It was a good day!
