Josh,

I am not familiar with Licton Springs and could not find it on the
street, address, or points of interest listings in my Pacific Northwest
atlas, so I am not certain whether this is significant for you and your
winter prediction question, but here near HWY 508 about half-way between
Morton and I-5, the chestnut backs returned several weeks ago--along
with the black caps, nuthatches, and Oregon juncos (which I am enjoying
them more this year because I have learned to tell the difference
betweeen the sexes and to recognize the first year juvenals--of which
there are a half dozen in this little flock!)

Also, I was surprised to read in another Tweeters message that American
Goldfinch had been spotted at Ridgefield refuge. I am not far from there
and the adult goldfinch left here in August. Even the juvenals have
been gone for a couple weeks. I miss them...maybe I'll take a run down
to Ridgefield tomorrow to visit!
