My cassette player is ridiculously obsolete, and I think it's about time
I got an iPod to download birdsong for use in the field. So, I would
like to ask all of you Tweeters what iPod models are working for you,
and what you recommend. I don't plan to use the iPod for anything but
birdsong. My main questions are:

1) How much memory is enough for downloading multiple birdsong CDs for
North America and elsewhere?

2) What displays and controls are easy to see and use under field
conditions (bright sun, gloved fingers, etc.)?

3) What add-on speakers offer the best combination of good sound
quality, volume, and small size?

4) Are there any other things I should consider?

I would appreciate any opinions. Please reply off-list, and if any of
you are interested in the responses I get, let me know and I'll send
them along.
