Hello,
I'm an electronics clerk and sell I-pods and accessories. I have the previous model of 8GB nano. I don't have any bird songs on it though if you have a CD it would be easy to sync to any I-pod. The new model nanos are real slim and I like the feel better then mine. The menus are easy to use and alot of surround sound systems and some JVC T.V.'s come with I-pod docks built in so you can listen and watch them on the set. The come in 8gb for $149.99 and 16gb for $199.99, plenty of space for any bird music you have. You can put videos on most models also. You can get a 1gb shuffle for $49.99 or a 2gb for $69.99 but they don't have screens so so can't see your music selection. Their are some larger capacity models but they are big and bulky. I-pods have plenty of accessories available like portable speakers, carrying cases, armbands ect. The competition doesn't have anywhere near the goodies to go with them and stay away from the Zune, we get alot of those
returned.

My cassette player
is?ridiculously obsolete,?and I think?it's about time I
got?an iPod?to download birdsong for use in the field.? So, I
would like to ask all of you Tweeters what iPod models are working for you, and
what you recommend.? I don't plan to use?the iPod for anything but
birdsong.? My main questions are:
?
1) How much
memory?is?enough for downloading multiple birdsong CDs for?North
America and elsewhere?
?
2) What displays and
controls are easy to?see and use under field conditions (bright sun, gloved
fingers, etc.)?
?
3) What add-on
speakers offer the best combination of good sound quality, volume, and small
size?
?
4) Are there any
other things I should consider?
?
I?would
appreciate?any opinions.? Please reply off-list, and if any of you are
interested in?the responses I get, let me know and I'll send them
along.
?
