Hi Everyone,

Following a morning workshop (non-birding) in Redmond this morning, Trisha and I decided we would see if we could find the reported Rough-legged Hawk along 124th across the Sammamish Valley. This would be a county life bird for me, as the one I found in the Snoqualmie Valley last winter was just north of the King County line. We found the bird - and it was almost too easy. We drove up Willows Road, turned right on 124th and there about five telephone poles ahead sat a hawk. Sure enough, it was the target bird, not the usual Red-tailed. It was so obvious we didn't even need to get out of the car for the ID. The quick find was welcome after half a dozen previous trips (fortunately very close to our houes) to look for the White-breasted Nuthatch produced nothing despite multiple other folks finding the bird.
