Hi, Tweets

A bit late, but here is the report for October 2008. Keep an eye out
for vultures on the Christmas counts - there are usually a couple
hanging out here and there. Following are reports from Washington,
British Columbia, and Oregon :

01 -- 15 over Renton Hill; a kettle of 15 over the Sammamish Plateau
(same 15?); 13 over Battle Ground; 2 over Avondale Road near Novelty Hill
03 -- 2 in a tall pine tree in Mill Creek; 5 east of Ellensburg
04 -- 43 flying low in blustery winds between Auburn and Enumclaw; 5
over Skagit County; 14 north of Burlington; 6 over the Game Range on
Fir Island; 5 at Martin Way/I-5
05 -- 22 flying lazily toward Tiger Mt. summit; 28 kettling over
Kinko's at NE 45th; 4 perched in trees along the Columbia River plus
other small groups seen along the way; 28 at the George Adams Salmon Hatchery
06 -- 1 over downtown Des Moines; a kettle of 16 over the Fairwood
area; 2 in a Douglas-fir which joined 7 others and an osprey heading south
07 -- 4 flying low over Columbia City; 12 over Newcastle; 2 near
Crown Hill and heading to Discovery Park; 12 heading south into
blustery winds between Auburn and Enumclaw; 800-1,000 near I-5 south
of Ashland, Oregon, milling around but unable to go on because of
clouds and fog at the pass
08 -- 20 kettling over Oak Harbor; 1 over Magnuson Park
15 -- 1 over Blaney Creek in Maple Ridge, B.C.
20 -- 1 (somewhere!)
28 -- 1 black vulture at Kincolith, B.C. for some time

Many thanks for the great reports. I try to answer all of them, but
sometimes get backlogged. All reports are more than welcome. Keep looking up!

Cheers, Diann
