Hi Tweets,

Both Saturday and Sunday morning I birded with Dennis Duffy and Ted
Peterson at the Edmonds Public Pier and then up on the public path at
the Point Edwards condominium complex on the south side of Edmonds
Marsh. We had a few birds of interest in addition to those usually
seen on the Edmonds waterfront. Saturday morning we had one late
HEERMANN's GULL, one BONAPARTE's GULL, one COMMON MURRE, one BALD
EAGLE and a few RHINOCEROS AUKLETS. Dennis spotted four HARLEQUIN
DUCKS flying south. From the condo trail we could look into a pond
on the south side of the Marsh that cannot be seen from the Marsh's
viewing platforms. It has been hosting two pairs of COMMON MERGANSER
for the last several days. A female BUFFLEHEAD has been there, too.
MALLARD, GADWALL, and NORTHERN SHOVELER were on the small retention
pond at the condo complex. We also had a LINCOLN's SPARROW and a
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER.

This morning the number of RHINOCEROS AUKLET and BONAPARTE's GULL
picked up. A RED-THROATED LOON flew north. MALLARDS, BARROW'S
GOLDENEYES, AMERICAN WIGEONS, and a NORTHERN SHOVELER were also out
on the Sound. WESTERN GREBES were seen both days. There were seven
on Saturday and more like fifteen this morning. The BELTED
KINGFISHERS were around the marina this morning. At the condo trail
we had one SLATE-COLORED JUNCO in a feeding flock of juncos and a
skein of SNOW GEESE flew overhead to the south. A large flock of
PINE SISKINS was feeding in trees along the Willow Creek Hatchery.

We looked hard a chickadees, hoping to see the mini-irruption of
Mountain Chickadees coming our way but no luck.
