We are still receiving reports of color banded Western Bluebirds in the San Juans. The most recent one was a small group of birds at the south end of San Juan Island this week. We have also received reports from nearby American Camp and from Lopez Island. These were adult birds translocated to San Juan from Ft. Lewis this spring as part of the reintroduction effect. They were seen with this year's chicks. They may winter over as some did a few years ago on Whidbey Island. As the Christmas Bird Count nears keep these birds in mind, as they could be seen in surrounding counties in grassy areas. Please let us know if you see any and take care to note colored leg bands. We can always use folks in the San Juans for our CBC which will be on Saturday, December 20th so contact me for information.
