hej tweeties!

yesterday, i saw a huge flock (several hundred) of bohemian waxwings in the trees outside the helsinki aquarium. the birds were stunning in the late afternoon sun; their colors were so brilliant that they were neon-colored. even though my digital camera was unable to capture the birds as anything more than a bunch of cream-colored baubles in the trees, my host's camera did manage to capture them, so i hope to be publishing a few of those images to my blog. of course, i plan to be doing some dedicated birding this saturday to various birding areas along the southern Finnish coast, and may even be able to see some Steller's sea-eagles in the wild. keep your fingers crossed that i am so lucky!

there are a couple mystery birds whose identities have been published for you to read. first, was the Phainopepla hen, Phainopepla nitens, as everyone correctly identified;

and second was the Hoatzin, Opisthocomus hoazin, again, as everyone identified;

today's mystery bird, which is meant to make up for the previous few easy-to-ID birds, is thanks to Rick Wright, and can be viewed here;
