Hello all,
Gina Sheridan and Jon Isacoff joined us to see what we could find in western
WW County - a nice day with good company. Gulls were the highlight:

Lesser Black-backed Gull - 1 adult bird - WWRdelta
Glaucous Gull - 1 adult bird - WWRdelta
Mew Gull - 1 adult bird - WWRdelta
Western Gull - 1 adult bird - on the island below Ice Harbor Dam - been
there awhile.
Herring Gull - several below dam, 12 more at poop piles and on the delta
Glaucous-winged Gull - 3 below dam, 7 on poop piles.
California Gull - a few dozen - far outnumbered by Ring-billed - hundreds of
them on poop piles, delta and out in the river.

Northern Shrike - 1, 1st year bird at the WWRdelta
Merlin - 2 in Burbank Heights
Eurasian Collared Dove - 6 in Burbank Heights - first time we've seen them
there.
Bald Eagle - 6 along river - 5 adults.
Dunlin - 62 on WWRdelta
Tundra Swan - 44 on Casey Pond
Common Merganser - 50+ below Ice Harbor Dam
Common Goldeneye - dozen or so below the dam
Common Loon - 2 below the dam
Barrow's Goldeneye - 8 below dam
Spotted Sandpiper - 2 on spillway of dam where over wintered last year for
the first time.
Lesser Scaup - 20+ below dam
Am White Pelicans - 18 below dam, 23 at Casey Pond and 8 off Badger Island.
Western Grebe - 63 above dam
Cackling Geese - a few in with lessers on Casey Pond
Greater White-fronted Geese - 4 at Casey Pond
Hooded Merganser - dozen or so at Casey Pond
Barn Owl - 4 on Dodd road
Rock Wren - 1 in rocks on Franklin Co. side of Ice Harbor Dam - was scoping
the roosting gulls when this little bird caught my attention. Another in the
cut bank on Dodd road.
Canyon Wren - Gina Sheridan called one down by Port Kelly for nice views.

There were several flocks of blackbirds in trees along the river but none on
the poop piles - still need a Rusty for the year!

Looks like winter might be coming to our valley this next week -
