There is at least one Anna's that is hanging around my neighborhood in
Kenmore, near St. Edwards Park. Friday it was sitting in a bush just off
the path in the butterfly garden at Arrowhead Elementary. It sat there for
at least half an hour and gave me the opportunity to point it out to a
number of people who were fascinated to see a hummingbird sitting still.

Tweeters,

I was at my folks today, watching their hummingbird feeder, as they have
been irregularly observing a hummingbird for several weeks now. I was able
to observe a female Anna's Hummingbird, which was quite a surprise as they
are almost 10 miles away from Puget Sound waters, and although they have
lived at that location for many years, I have personally never seen an
Anna's there or anywhere up on the Auburn-Enumclaw Plateau.

So I cleaned up the feeder and changed out the syrup and we'll see if they
can keep it around through the winter. Anyone else have many records of
this species from that vicinity? I know they are locally common anywhere
from Olympia to Everett, however almost all of my personal sightings are
within a couple miles of the Puget Sound itself.
