Hello Tweeters,
I got a late start today,leaving at 11.00 AM here from Tacoma,I am so glad I
went at all, since I found some nice birds unexpected.
I start first with the highlights:First Best Bird was a Adult male RUFFED
GROUSE on Brady Loop Road.Where I found this bird getting out of my car to
check for Wood Ducks what me and Patrick had on this spot twice in all our
many birding Years.This bird was sitting still close to the Road on a fallen
tree on a slew.I watched this bird with fascination I never been seeing a
male of this species and never that close,what I noticed the hair on the
legs and seeing this bird so close ,he seems so large.Is to bad I did not
had my camera with me.The place is direct on the loop .From the entrance
from the freeway take a left and drive all the way to you come to the slew
what go on both side of the road,this bird was on the right side.Right after
the slew in ONE House,who bee keeping a piece of land up as a park, This
peace of land is for consideration being bough by the Nature
Conservancy.After the grouse flew away Thurs the back I talked to the owner
of the House and showed him a photo of this bird,in case he ever seeing it
again .We birdied this area over 20 years and never see one of this birds.
Another highlight was three SNOW GEESE with around 750 CANADA with most of
them where CACKLING GEESE,.with them where 125 RING-NECKED DUCKS.This is one
of the area we birdied on the Satsop CBC.2 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS among 500
Brewers and Redwings of Brady Loop Road Hiram Hall Road where the old
abounded house on the corner is all the way to the dead end.
And 2 WOOD DUCKS on the Dunlap Bridge with 3 MEADOWLARK on the same road
what ends on the Zeep Farm who are specializing in raising Hybrid
Poplars.There on the Slew I had some Sparrows where 1 was a white striped
white-throated Sparrow with around 25 A.PIPIT'S in the field.Also there
where 6 SNIPE on Brady Loop.,close by on another abounded house a big flock
of 50 birds where most of them where Dark-Eyed Junco and few Sparrows.It got
quite dark on Satsop Road,but I did find a group of 16 TRUMPETER SWANS with
12 adult and 4 juveniles.On the Wetlands opposite from the Swans where a
large group of all 52 GREEN -WINGED TEALS
On Dunlap Road I saw some special different cows ,I ask the owner this Cows
coming from Scotland call Scottish Highlander,this is special meat for
reducing high cholesterol,I sure got educated there..The last birds where 2
Common Goldeneye and 1 Pied billed Grebe on Vance Creek,
Ad Marve Breece always says,It was a GOOD DAY
