Hi Stacey,
Have you tried checking out the world bird guide at
http://www.mangoverde.com/birdsound/index.html
The Internet Bird Collection is also a wonderful source for
illustrators--there are photos and videos of many species from all
around the world.

Watch out! Both are huge time sinks!

Subject: [Tweeters] Wilson's snipe vs. short-billed dowitcher
Hello,
I am working on an illustration of a Wilson's snipe, and am confused by
it's similarity to a short-billed dowitcher. The photo posted on
wikipedia makes the snipe look more elongated than I'm used to seeing,
and with less prominent barred flanks. Does the photo here look like a
typical Wilson's snipe?

It is hard to see if the bird's back has bold stripes in the picture.
Thank you for any advice.
