I have downloaded 3 recent photos images of this duck 'in question' as to how much 'pure' Eurasian lineage he has.

Depending on how the angle of lighting hits, you can see a faint iridescent sheen near his eye region.

Never had the luxury of seeing this lovely duck so close-up. Usually I have distant views with one mingling with a huge flock of American.

So it something I may have dismissed depending on how the light 'illuminates' the bird diagnostic field feature.
