We watched a Short-eared Owl hunting over the ranch fields at Theler
Wetlands, on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 29, 08, from 4:30-4:50pm. The
sun went below hills about 4:10pm and sunset was lovely. There were clouds
overhead, but the sky was clear in the west, so we had good light, as we
were observing this Owl, and walking back towards parking lot along the
crushed gravel trail. The Owl was a female - buffy. We had great looks at
it flying and pouncing to ground several times. It was back and forth
across the fields numerous times.
