Subject: [Tweeters] Marked American Crow seen at Pier 50 on Seattle

I saw a American Crow at Pier 50 on Seattle Waterfront with colored
study rings on his legs last Thursday 09/26/08.

Band colors: yellow over metal (left); orange over orange (right).

A University of Washington study bird, perhaps? Are there many
other's around?

Bird didn't look too healthy given it's hopping movement (bit
unsteady). It was eating discarded fast food on the cycle path (just
opposite the MacDonalds by the Ferry Terminal).

I was surprised given my red/green color blindness that I could tell
the yellow and orange bands apart but it was quite easy.

On another note the same day I saw a Belted Kingfisher on the
Waterfront hanging around on Pier 48 (the old Victoria ferry terminal
now abandoned). The bird was moving around between a few locations
(under the pier) but seemed to favor a perch overlooking the water on
a stair-like structure on the northern side by the western-most glass
doors.
