Hi All,

I was up at the Nature Conservancy preserve at Port Susan this afternoon
photographing shorebirds and was surprised to find a basic-plumaged AMERICAN
AVOCET among the many GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS and SHORT-BILLED
and LONG-BILLED dowitchers. Other highlights included about 300 SNOW GEESE
on the bay side for all of the afternoon, 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS and 2
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS. The water level is good for the longer-legged
waders, but not so good for peeps etc. as I saw none. There is virtually no
mud or short grassy areas. There were plenty of the usual fall/winter
ducks.
