Wednesday evening I watched as Sharp-shinned Hawk (SSHA) flew to the top of a pine tree, while being chased by a Northern Flicker (NOFL). The flicker veered off at the last moment, and landed on a nearby tree. Both sat in their respective trees for a while, and when the SSHA flew away, the NOFL flew after it again, gaining speed until both were out of sight behind some other tall trees.
