Hi Tweeters,

With an upcoming field trip in the works I have been checking for the rockpipers at Duwamish Head and finally saw them for the first time yesterday. There was about 20 Surfbirds and at least two Black Turnstones.

On one of my previous scout trips I inadvertantly missed the exit and had to work my way down the hill. I found an amazing corner lot house landscaped with a fuchsia hedge. Yesterday there was an Anna's Hummingbird visiting this house so there was a bird. It is pretty easy to back track to this place from the bottom of the hill off of Harbor Ave SW. Arriving from the Seattle direction take a L up the hill on California Ave SW, then take the very next L, Ferry Ave SW, then the very next left on Massachussetts St, a short ways up the road curves to the right and turns into either Walnut or Arch Ave SW. At this intersection is where the house is on your right. The flowers are beautiful and I have never seen a planting like this.

The part of Duwamish Head where the rockpipers are is across the street from Harbor Vista Condo's which are white stucco and aqua green trim. The address is 1027 Harbor Ave SW. A small park called Marshall Reserve is adjacent.
