Today I tried to find the pond on Virginia Loop Road near Poulsbo, Kitsap
County. Lucked out and found it w/little trouble. In addition to a few
dozen MALLARDS (one huge, scary-looking male hybrid and a smaller, oddly
colored female (I think; s/he was kind of a reddish-orangish color)), a few
dozen CANADA GEESE (race not determined), a white domestic goose, nine
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE (adults and imms), there was a single ROSS'S
GOOSE. It was shadowing the domestic goose, sticking to it like white on
rice. The size difference was amazing. Very pretty goose.

What was the bird that was at this same pond last winter? I can't remember,
and didn't see whatever it was.

Good birding,
Mary
